Asset Creation

This is an extraordinarily vague term which encompasses so many facets of the visual effects process, particularly in 3D. I’ve seen it organised in multiple different ways by multiple organisations and the reality is that there is no right or wrong way to do this. However, my primary job is to work with assets, rather than build them, so I wanted something that, for now, would encompass the following:

  • Modelling
  • Texturing
  • Rigging

Before you say it, I agree with you that these three subjects are incredibly broad, but hopefully we can use this label to organize some cool tricks for things you may find useful in the future.

I’ll be sharing some cool mathematics around geometry, recursion and more, as well as tips in Maya, Houdini, Substance Painter, ZBrush and more.
